And now, here’s is a VERY LONG review of the concert last night which is currently also posted at Mjsblog. I sat down to write this when I got home after midnight so that I wouldn’t forget anything. I’ll have to put most below the fold since I really do kind of go on and on!

Hi, my name is Christina and I’m a 44 year old mother of two boys and Adam Lambert can turn me into a puddle of goo through the TV. So you can imagine what happened when I saw him perform live, AND, had him look in my eyes and smile at me as he signed a photo after the show. I shall try to reform myself to do a proper write up. Adam Lambert made me clean my room!

July 12, 2009 · 1 Comment

Seriously.

You see, he and Kris were sitting in for Ryan Seacrest for the American Top 40 radio show this weekend. In San Diego that gets broadcast from 8-12 on Sunday mornings. So I stayed up in my room with the alarm clock radio and listened while reading the paper and having breakfast. My plan was to take the portable radio over to SportsBoy’s room and tackle that mess. But first I thought that since I was in my room anyway, why not hang up the clothes? Which was a bigger task than usual since I had two loads plus a load of sheets AND the clothes I picked up from the dry cleaner which needed to be re-hung on my wooden hangers so I could dispose of the plastic coverings and such. Well that lead to me cleaning OUT some clothes and starting a donation pile. Meanwhile my dresser condition really caught my eye and with an “enough is enough” scowl of disgust I got out the dust cloths and started throwing away random things that had made their way there to collect the dust. Then I cleaned off my night stand. By the time the AT40 radio show was over (which was really fun because Adam and Kris are so good together and really funny), one side of my bedroom was nicely cleaned off and all clean clothes in their proper place. Never made it to SB’s room though.

Hey Adam – can you host another radio show so I can finish that up? :-)

Adam Lambert links – my favorites.

June 4, 2009 · 2 Comments

There have been a high number of hits to the site as results of searches on Adam Lambert. Since I know those are hitting older posts from when the show was running – and that the people probably want to find places with more current info/pics – I thought I would provide this public service gathering of some great site which deserve the hits. Because, you know, I kind of understand the obsession and the need to soak up info on him since he isn’t providing me a new song every week anymore! Screen captures included so you can get a taste for the sites.

Adam’s Official Site - run by 19E which is the company that represents the Idols after they sign deals:

Adam_official

As a side note – most of these link back and forth to each other and contain recordings of No Boundaries that may auto play. They also have links to his itunes page for easy purchasing :-)

Adam’s MySpace page. Now, this one has also been taken over by 19e and been scrubbed of some cool original tunes that Adam had posted pre-Idol. It was a glimpse into what he would probably like to have on his album. Catchy dance stuff with lots of techno pop sounds. I was just getting to know the songs when they were scrubbed, darnit!

Adam_Myspace

The Best Article written about Adam in the last two weeks. This gal sums things up quite beautifully IMHO.

Adam_BigHollywood article

mjsbigblog – how did I not find this site during the show? This is THE premier accumulater of all things Idol and is where I’ve found many of the good articles and videos of Adam since the show ended. They also post stats of music sales for anything Idol – really interesting to see how artists who were launched by AI are scattered all over the charts!

Adam_MJs Blog

The Best Interview – Idolatry.  Five part video series with probably the best series of questions asked and clips of his performances sprinkled nicely throughout.

Adam_Idolatry

Last, but not least – for when you just have to relive all of his performances from the show - One site has them all right here. Takes a bit to load so be patient, but let me tell you it is a great way to whet your Adam-appetite!

Adam_AllPerformances

All right my fellow Adam obsessed Glamberts! Enjoy those sites – trust me, they are the launching point to all great places featuring him that are updated quite regularly. Seems as if now that they are done with the post show media blitz, they are all hunkering down in their home towns resting up and getting things in order before they meet back in CA to rehearse for the tour.

Oh – and for the record – Adam is NOT on Twitter! NOT. You’ll see that discussed on a couple of those sites. Those are all imposters/fans on Twitter right now.

American Idol post game analysis

adam-lambert-feeling-good-video

Congrats to Kris Allen. He won the trophy. He’s a great, talented, sweetheart of a guy with adorbale parents and a beautiful wife. Go Kris.

the show last night was SO much better than Tuesday night. Clearly everyone was way more energetic and thrilled to be performing with established artists. Of course this Rock Girl was happiest when Kiss came out and at the end when Brian May played guitar as Adam and Kris sang We Are The Champions. They sounded so good together! Adam said this morning in a radio interview that singing next to the Queen guitarist with Kris was his most memorable moment from the night. You could just tell that the pressure was off both of them and they could just sing for the pure fun of it and with the goal to entertain the audience vs garner votes or judges’ praise. Now I want Adam to do a cover of Kiss’ song Beth!! Sigh…

Here’s the thing – I’m going to miss the show so much this year!! Adam Lambert made this season for them. He made you tune in to see just what he would do each week.  It’s been a wonderful distraction for me. I’ve loved every song he did and I now have them all on a CD for my car. I’ve *never* cared this much about a contestant.  I’m not so much sad that he didn’t win as I am sad that I wont see him performing on TV every week! The withdrawals will be harsh :-)

I was not truly shocked at the results. In fact, I had pretty much resigned myself to them early on when we knew who the final THREE were. It’s the logic of how Idol works. The top four had a dedicated fan base. By that point you probably are not picking up anyone new – not in significant numbers anyway. Given the polar opposites that Adam/Allison were vs Danny/Kris, I knew that Adam’s largest fan base had been with him since Allison was eliminated. There was no way he would break through the Danny/Kris juggernaut. Kris inherited the vast marjoity of Danny’s fans which was enough to put him over the top. It made sense and on the radio this morning Adam’s dad said they had come to the same conclusion beforehand and were also prepared for it.

And as much as I love Adam, the other problem was that he peaked during rock week IMHO.

Not that it matters. The main wing of AI – 19E entertainment, owns those performers anyway. They have right of first refusal on the Top 13. Adam was talking about the record he was going to make back during the home town visit. His future was secured when he wowed everyone weeks ago. The fact that he does not have the trophy has not impacted his future plans one little bit.

Thank you American Idol and Adam Lambert for a rocking good time over the past couple of months.

Flat out tired

May 20, 2009 · 4 Comments

No, not me – that will hit around Friday again.

American Idol last night was NOT what I thought would be at all! I thought everyone just looked dog tired. There was a post performance interview with Adam and Kris that really showed that. The combination of the bigger stage and a crappy song and probably way too much publicity crap between last week and this made for a pretty flat show. Next season they either have to give them two weeks in between or else lay off of those kids leading into a 3 song finale and this huge production that I know they still have to do tonight.  That was the lowest energy I’ve seen Adam – and I think he sang the last two songs *really* well, and poor Kris on that last song? Ouch! He looked lost and yeah, totally out of his range but given NO time to prepare to twist the arrangement of the song let alone learn all the words since it WAS totally new – he was overwhelmed by the orignal. And what a crappy original it was!! I loved how Simon sidestepped critiquing the song since Kara co-wrote it. Gack! Adam tried to inject life into it but you could tell he just was not feeling it like he felt the first two songs. Overall the show was just not that good.

Now, I still voted my fingers off for Adam. The last vote I sent was at 11:49pm since I watched my recoding of Glee after taking MM back to furlough. I think this will be the closest result since Season 2. DialIdol shows Kris with less than a percentage point lead but then that only counts people who use their program and obviously misses text messages. Prior results on their site over the last 4 years have never been this tight and they’ve had predicions with more than a 4 percentage point differential be wrong. They brag about correctly predicting the winners from Season 4 onward, but the differentials were never this tight so it was pretty fair to extrapolate other sources of votes from their sampling. I guess my point is, there was no clear winner. Personal tastes matter since these two artists are SO different.

However, I think what everyone will agree with is that this season had a lot of buzz thanks entirely to Adam. Right or wrong as it was for the judges and producers to push for him, it gave them ratings I am sure. He was a game changer for this show. I predict that this top two will eclipse the sales of any other top two (and I thought the two Davids were sure hits!), but that Adam will leave a much larger mark long term. I’ve never voted so many times. I’ve NEVER purchased the itunes songs from any season before. And while I have purchased some subsequent recordings from previous contestants and gone to a couple of conerts, I know that it is Adam who I will following long after this show overall is done.

Oh, and please please please get rid of Kara as a judge and a songwriter!!!

Adam Lambert Finale!

May 19, 2009 · 4 Comments

Ok folks! Last week of My Obsession! Today is the Finale of American Idol and it is ALL I am thinking about! I’m so excited to hear 3 new performances from Adam. Yes, and from Kris too. Love him. I perused his fan sites and unlike a certain other top three performer, Kris’ fans have great respect for Adam and are NOT finding all sorts of lovely reason’s to trash him. I will be happy with whoever wins. Because either way Adam already is a huge star and I know that he will match Daughtry in the sales of his first album whether he is the Idol or not. Still, you know who I will be voting for :-)

I love this picture because they are spraying his hair with the same hair spray I use:

And finally, I found a You Tube video that is set to the studio version of one of my favorite Adam performances – Mad World.

Further American Idol indulgence

May 14, 2009 · 9 Comments

I stumbled across these pics which confirmed something I’d heard about Adam and Kris being pretty tight. I knew they were room mates early on when there were more contestants in the house. I’d also heard something about Kris wearing nail polish which just did NOT jive with his overall image. Well, looky here:

Kris with thmbnail polish to match Adam's

Kris with thumbnail polish to match Adam's

Adam and Kris compare thumbs

Adam and Kris compare thumbs

Apparently they had some kind of brotherhood pact going into the Top Three week and Adam kept his right thumb clean while Kris painted his. How cool is that? And in the end, the pact comes through and it’s the two of them left standing to entertain us next week. I’m a sucker for mushy stories like that :-)

Even though I am a total Glambert and have been since Michael Jackson week, Kris has been moving up every week to be my #2 choice stories like this make me truly not care at this point who wins.

Phew!

May 13, 2009 · 3 Comments

I’m sorry for all the American Idol commentary, but….it’s my distraction and source of fun and joy from all the hamster wheel stuff, ya know? I’m just bummed it will all be over next week! But…at least America got it right!! Adam vs Kris as it should be next week. The two best and most original by far.

Oh, and for those Adam haters who say all he does is scream…(really? did you miss Mad World and Tracks of My Tears and Feeling Good and???)…do me a favor and just find one studio version of one of his songs and listen to it. What they sell on itunes is the full length version of their performance songs and they are often quite different from the live versions. I know many who hated Adam’s rendition this week of U2’s One, but I just downloaded the studio version and it is so so wonderful and there is NO screaming! I promise. I’ve been turned on to the ways of buying these songs this season! And I am thrilled that he gets one more week to add to my collection! By the time the season is over I will have a 15 song CD which will help me bide my time until he can release his own original songs. Which I have no doubt he will do whether he wins or not. Heck, I’ll probably snag a few of Kris’ tunes too – definitely getting Heartless because that was brilliant.

“My smile is my makeup I wear since my breakup with you”

Love that line (Tracks of my Tears)

Can’t be all bad if I have some good songs in my head!

Oh – and on a side note I’ll post pictures tomorrow night of my little catcher.

Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert

My youngest accused me yesterday of being “obsessed” with Adam from American Idol. Yes, and? What’s the problem with that little boy? It’s funny how seriously irritated he gets at me for it. It’s also funny how easy it is to tease him about it! Look kiddo, it’s a fun distraction which brings me some joy and a reason to dance – what’s so bad about that? Oh yeah, 12 year olds don’t probably cannot appreciate the importance of these little diversions. At least MusicMan and SweetPrince get it. SP even asked me to make a copy of the CD I burned from my itunes collection last night :-) Good – that means he wont object too much when I drag him to Adam’s first solo tour some time next year!

************************************************************************

Do you have a “witching hour?” A time when, if you are woken up from sleep, you just know you will be wide awake and not able to fall back right away? It’s 2-4am for me and it’s usually a) cats, or b) MM coming home or just getting up to get something from the kitchen. I’m doomed when that happens. Toss and turn for at least an hour. Frustrating!

***********************************************************************

I’m going back for more with the personal trainner tomorrow! I’ll eat my normal breakfast this time and drink/bring plenty of water and just be overall more mentally prepared for the work out so hopefully I wont have to take a dizzy break!  I’ve been using the what-now-seem-like-wimpy 4lb hand weights evey night to keep my arms loose and also picked up MM’s 10lb weights to work them in. The hand weights they had at the gym were 12lbs!! No wonder I could only do three sets of curls before my arms wanted to fall off and refused any further attempt to lift them!  Wish me luck. I have another crazy assed weekend with pop warner player evaluations and two baseballgames for SportsBoy. Don’t ask me when grocery shopping or laundry or anything will get done!
